The iPhone Dev-Team has announced an updated version of RedSn0w and an upcoming update to UltraSn0w for iOS 6 compatibility.

Version 0.9.15b3 fixes the redsn0w “error 2601” that Windows users were seeing using the Restore button. It also fixes a related Windows iTunes error 14 for stitched files. Note that if you have a baseband, you should probably avoid stitching and simply use redsn0w’s native Restore (not iTunes).

Those lucky recipients of new iPad minis and iPad4s on Friday can use this redsn0w to save your 6.0 blobs off to Cydia. First connect your new device and turn it on, then use redsn0w’s Extras->SHSH Blobs->New and point it at the 6.0 IPSW.

Expect an ultrasn0w compatibility update for iOS 6.0 by Friday (mostly useful for 3GS old-bootrom users who are currently enjoying the untethered 6.0 jailbreak!). Same baseband support as with 5.x.

The iPhone Dev-Team has released an update to iOS 6 jailbreak – RedSn0w 0.9.13dev2. New version resolves problems with SSH.

The “dev2” version should fix the various SSH problems and crashes with apps that some have been seeing.

The iPhone Dev-Team has released a tethered jailbreak of iOS 6 for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, and iPod touch 4G.

Just like at the at the wind-down of last year’s WWDC, we’re releasing a developer-only version of a redsn0w tethered jailbreak for app developers.

Chronic Dev Team released an update to untethered iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak utility – Absinthe 2.0.2. New version supports the latest iOS 5.1.1 9B208 firmware for iPhone 4 GSM. If you experience problems with previous versions – try 2.0.2

FireCore has announced an update to Seas0nPass that provides an untethered jailbreak for the latest 5.0.1 (5.1.1) firmware for the Apple TV 2G. Unfortunately Seas0nPass is not yet compatible with the new ATV3.

Here are recommendations from Chronic Dev Team:

1. Make a backup of your device in iTunes by right clicking on your device name under the ‘Devices’ menu and click ‘Back Up’.
2. Once your backup is complete return to your device and go to Settings – General – Reset – Erase all Content and Settings. This will make the jailbreak process much faster.
3. Open Absinthe and be sure you are still connected via USB cable to your computer.
4. Click ‘Jailbreak’ and wait…. just be patient and do not disconnect your device.
5. Once jailbroken return to iTunes and restore your backup from earlier. Right click on your device name under the ‘Devices’ menu in the left panel of iTunes and click ‘Restore from Back Up…’ then select the latest backup you created before. (restoring this backup will return all the content previously on your device ie, apps, photos, etc.)

InteVyDis has released an untethered jailbreak for A4 devices on iOS 5.1.1 as part of Vulndisco Mobile 1.7. The module is vd_ios_untether_5_1_1. It works by creating a custom bundle you have to install via RedSn0w. Evgeny Legerov posted in twitter:

vulndisco mobile 1.7 is out with untethered 5.1.1

This jailbreak is not free and costs big money. It works only on A4 devices – iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPod Touch 3G and iPod Touch 4G. It is not yet tested by other hackers. So this might be fake. However famous hacker I01nc notes that the company is a legit source of exploits:

Xvolks has posted a video demonstrating the iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak using the new yet unreleased utility Absinthe 2.0.

I’ve tested Absinthe v2 on my iPhone 4 GSM, iOS 5.1.1. It jailbroke it flawlessly. I’ve took a (bad) video of it 😉

The video was later removed from the public, but you know there is nothing that can be hidden 🙂
