While waiting for the jailbreak many users have found that evad3rs have hard coded the progress bar of the evasi0n jailbreak to reach completion quite soon. According to our calculations, the progress bar will reach 100% at February 4th, 2013 at 17:00 UTC, which is 12pm Noon EST.
Of course, the team could very well finish earlier or run into a problem and need more time to finalize the jailbreak. To be the first to know when the jailbreak is released please follow iPhoneRoot.com.
Here is a quick table for all time zones:
Evad3rs team has recently announced that the first round of testing of the evasi0n untethered jailbreak has been completed successfully.

It’s widely expected the jailbreak will be released today, February 3rd.
The Evad3rs Dev-Team has launched an official website for the jailbreak of iOS 6.1, called ‘Evasi0n’.

A progress bar indicates the team is more than half way done the jailbreak. According to the team new Evasi0n untethered jailbreak is compatible with all iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and iPad mini models running iOS 6.0 through iOS 6.1.
The new team of hackers consists of Pod2g, Planetbeing, MuscleNerd, and Pimskeks. Following the release of iOS 6.1, Planetbeing confirmed that their untethered jailbreak works with the firmware and MuscleNerd hinted that the jailbreak could be released on Sunday.
Hacker planetbeing corfirmed, that untethered iOS 6.1 jailbreak will be relaeased quite soon.
In terms of release date, we’re aiming for approximately a week out, but it’s possible it will come sooner or later than that.
You can upgrade if you want (I recommend iTunes backup and full restore) but there’s no reason to until jailbreak’s actually out.
Recently another hacker MuscleNerd tweeted, that utility might be .
This step-by-step tutorial will guide you through the process of full restore, that is for iOS 6.1 jailbreak. You can use this tutorial for any iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
Important: do not update to iOS 6.1 if you need carrier unlock.
Step 1
Make a folder called “Firmware”. Download iOS 6.1 for your Apple device: .
We have downloaded iOS 6.1 for uour :
Step 2
Connect your device to the computer and launch iTunes. Make sure you have the latest iTunes installed.
Select your device from the list of devices on the left.In iTunes 11 to activate left panel press Ctrl+S.
Create a backup by right-clicking on the name in Devices (iTunes left pane) and choosing Back Up. In iTunes 11 you can click Back Up Now button.
Step 3
Now hold down Option (Mac) or Shift (Windows) key and click the Restore button.
Navigate to the Firmware folder and select the iOS 6.1 firmware ipsw. Click the Open button to continue.
After iOS update iTunes might ask if you want to setup your iPhone as a new device or restore from the backup.
Step 4
That’s it.
MuscleNerd, a popular hacker and member of the evad3rs, has revealed that the upcoming iOS 6.1 jailbreak will support all 22 device variations and likely the atv2.
@MuscleNerd is every other device supported?
@unicornhacker yes, every other 6.1 device variation will be supported. All TWENTY-TWO of them (omg!). Plus atv2 if it’s out in time.
Unfortunately, with the exploit that’s being used, the Apple TV 3 will not be supported.
@MuscleNerd @evad3rs_jb So those of us with atv3 still have to wait for a bootrom
@arovik not necessarily. Although atv3 uses far fewer services that can be tampered with, it’s not isolated. But it can’t use this next JB
The Apple TV 2 will be included in the upcoming jailbreak, according to MuscleNerd of the Evad3rs Dev-Team.
Awesome…as @EvilPenguin_ pointed out, we’re seeing the final ATV2 6.1 today too. So ATV2 will be covered by the JB (not ATV3 tho).
Unfortunately, as mentioned earlier the Apple TV 3G will not be supported by this jailbreak.
Pimskeks of the Evad3rs Dev-Team reveals that those looking to apply the new iOS 6.1 jailbreak should update to the firmware using iTunes.
If you people plan to upgrade to iOS 6.1 please don’t do an OTA upgrade. Please make a full restore using iTunes.
Just moments ago Planetbeing confirmed that their untethered jailbreak works with new iOS 6.1 final firmware released by Apple today and MuscleNerd hinted that the jailbreak will be released this Sunday.
MuscleNerd offers some insight as to why this is necessary, “a few reasons: OTA is more time consuming for us to test, and it gives you different SHSH blobs than normal restore.”
Planetbeing has confirmed that their untethered jailbreak works with new iOS 6.1 final firmware released by Apple today.
iOS 6.1 appears to be vulnerable to the exploits we are planning on using.

In terms of code, we have two proof of concepts that we need to merge and polish, so we will not be ready to release until that and testing.
Notably, MuscleNerd has hinted that the team might release the jailbreak on Superbowl Sunday.
Hey, did everyone know the Super Bowl is this Sunday? What will you be doing? /cc @evad3rs http://evad3rs.com
