I’ve got some good news for those iPhone 4s users, who plan to jailbreak their iPhones running iOS 7.1. It is possible to hack the older models of Apple’s smartphones. However, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you should upgrade to the latest version of iOS right now. And here’s why.

Following Winocm, who has recently posted a video showing the iOS 7.1 untethered jailbreak on iPhone 4, another hacker – iH8Sn0w – on Wednesday confirmed the successful jailbreak of his iPhone 4s running the same Apple’s iOS 7.1.

Here’s what he tweeted:

NGeary14: @iH8sn0w Can you jailbreak 7.1 iPhone 4s or only 4 ??

iH8Sn0w: @NGeary14 well my 4S is jailbroken on 7.1 atm.

Looks like it is possible to jailbreak any iOS device equipped with an Apple A4 or Apple A5 processor. As to the other iPhones and iPads, there’s no information yet.

iH8Sn0w claims that there won’t be any public jailbreak, at least now. That is why I recommend you to stay away from iOS 7.1. Especially if you have an iPhone 5/5c with Apple A6 CPU or iPhone 5s with Apple A7 CPU on board.

A well-known member of the jailbreak community nicknamed Winocm will soon start working at Apple. As he tweeted a couple of hours ago, he’ll take up his new duties “later this year”. As to his position at the company, it remains unknown.

According to iDownloadBlog,

Another famous hacker is joining the ranks at Apple. Following in the footsteps of jailbreak community members Comex, and Peter Hajas, jailbreak developer Winocm announced this afternoon on Twitter that he would be joining Apple.

Winocm played an important role in development of a series of jailbreak versions. Apart from that, he took part in other important projects.

I hope that the company from Cupertino will include lots of tweaks created by third-party developers and hackers to iOS and Apple’s mobile operating system will become even better. Agree? Leave your answers below.

evasi0n 705 500x400 Evad3rs released Evasi0n 1.0.5 to jailbreak iOS 7.0.5

The evad3rs have released an updated evasi0n 7.0.5 that brings the ability to jailbreak iOS 7.0.5. The iOS 7.0.5 was released earlier this week for the some iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c models (the GSM + CDMA editions).

Pod2g noted the change on twitter

Hi there! evasi0n 1.0.5 with support for iOS 7.0.5 is up on http://evasi0n.com .

Apple has already patched the exploits evasi0n7 uses in the latest iOS 7.1 beta, as we reported yesterday, so this will be the last firmware you will be jailbreak iOS 7 for some time.

You can download the latest Evasi0n 7.0.5 here.

I0n1c confirmed that it is safe to update to iOS 7.0.5 if you have a jailbroken device. This version of Apple’s mobile operating system is still vulnerable to the evasi0n7 jailbreak exploits. Here’s what the hacker posted on Twitter:

Okay #evasi0n7 still works in iPhone 5s at 7.0.5

ios 7.0.5 jail 500x323 Evasi0n7 Jailbreak Works on iOS 7.0.5, Requires Patch

Nevertheless, to successfully jailbreak a device running iOS 7.0.5 you will need a special patch for evasi0n7.

To make evasi0n work with iOS 7.0.5 one way is to patch 11B511 into 11B601 in the binary. Ehmm btw… the patch are not hex bytes but simple ASCII iOS build numbers that need to be fixed.

It’s good that Apple forgot to fix the vulnerability, which lets the users jailbreak their devices.

According to iH8sn0w, iOS 7.1 beta 3 doesn’t patch evasi0n7 untethered jailbreak. The hacker, however, thinks that in the next beta Apple will surely patch the exploits.

ios7.1 beta3 jail It is Possible to Jailbreak Devices Running iOS 7.1 Beta 3 Using Evasi0n7 Tool

As noted by iDownloadBlog,

With today’s release of iOS 7.1 beta 3, many people feared that exploits used in the evasi0n7 jailbreak would be patched. As it appears, and even though evasi0n7 cannot jailbreak iOS 7.1 beta 3 as is, Apple didn’t patch evasi0n7.

iOS 7.1 is expected to be released in March, probably at the same time with Apple’s new 5-inch phablet. Well, at least this is what anonymous sources from the supply chain claim.

The p0sixspwn untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 – 6.1.5 was updated on January 5th to version 1.0.5. The updated jailbreak tool is available for both Macs and Windows-based computers. It features OS X Snow Leopard support, several bugfixes and a number of other improvements. The update was announced by one of the hackers that created p0sixspwn – iH8Sn0w – on Twitter:

evasion7 101 500x400 Evad3rs released Evasi0n iOS 7 version 1.0.1

The evad3rs team released evasi0n7 1.0.1 with the removal of TaiG App Store from the installer. No word on any other changes in the 1.0.1 version of evasi0n7. You can download the new version here.

Pod2g announced the news on twitter:

We have heard the community. Evasi0n 1.0.1 is available on http://evasi0n.com. TaiG has been removed from the package. Merry Christmas!

iPad 2 issue has not been fixed yet. For those that keep getting stuck on boot logo with iPad 2 models, the team promises that a fix is coming.

We still have to work on the compatibility issue with the iPad 2, but we have been busy celebrating with our family… Tomorrow probably!

ios7 jailbreak first step Evad3rs Achieve Unsigned Userland Code Execution on iOS 7

Famous hacker Planetbeing, member of Evad3rs team, posted an update regarding team’s iOS 7 jailbreak progress. They’ve achieved one important step – unsigned userland code execution. Basically this means that they’ve got behind Apple’s walls of security and now can poke at the kernel. Bugs found in the kernel could be used to create a jailbreak for the new operating system.

Achieved unsigned userland code execution with some of our stuff in reserve. Now we have a good platform for poking the kernel.

A hacker named winocm claims he has a binary that can perform an untethered jailbreak of the iOS 6.1.3. This announcement has been spotted on Twitter today.

jailbreak 463x400 Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 Found

I now have a binary that untethers 6.1.3. Needs some more work though.

A tethered jailbreak is now available for the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4G running iOS 6.1.3. winocm says, he has tested the code only on his own iPhone 4. What is interesting, though, is that the hacker doesn’t work on the jailbreak for iOS 7.

I have my own code running inside the iOS 6.1.3 kernel on iPhone 4. It’s not useful on iOS 7. I don’t care about iOS 7. Other people are taking care of iOS 7.

If you have an iPhone and look forward to news from winocm concerning the new jailbreak, you may follow this person on Twitter.

open jailbreak P0sixninja plans to create OpenJailbreak

Hacker p0sixninja (Joshua Hill) tweeted that he plans to create OpenJailbreak, a new repository of open source jailbreak components on Twitter earlier today.

Ok, I hate redsn0w, I hate sn0wbreeze, and I hate 6.1.3. I’m ready to get this #openjailbreak off the ground

Elaborating further he told:

Essentially it’s going to be a repository of open source jailbreak components that I created over the years. So much of my code has been hacked up and incorporated into other projects, it’s becoming very fragmented. There’s no central repository to maintain all this code, to allow other developers to submit patches or help layout a roadmap for what new features and abilities will be added in the future.

Surenix is reportedly working on the development of the website for the repository and Hill is organizing that components that will be posted.

Hill also says “this is just a small part of an ultimate plan” perhaps eluding to another recent tweet which said, “I got a lot of amazing things coming to you all soon. think bigger than jailbreak ;)

Notably, developer Ryan Petrich posted an image on Twitter earlier today which appears to indicate that there already is a jailbreak for iOS 7.
