Saurik has warned the iOS 7 users and jailbreakers not to install the unofficial MobileSubstrate patches that begin to appear on the Internet. The reason for such warning is quite simple – MobileSubstrate hasn’t yet been updated to work with Apple’s new operating system and that can lead to serious consequences.

beware substrate 447x400 Beware of Unofficial MobileSubstrate Patches!

Here’s what saurik says himself (via iClarified):

This is horribly dangerous: MSHookFunction is not designed to be used on functions that might actively be running; this makes Substrate get injected into launchd while launchd is loading launch daemons… no one should install this; it doesn’t even solve the problem remotely correctly for anything but SpringBoard/backboardd, and will end up leaving you with Substrate having been randomly applied to different background processes.

What saurik suggests us to wait for the official update. Well, I guess it’s better to listen to the experienced programmer.

If you use a jailbroken iPhone 5, then this article will be interesting for you. Yesterday, a hacker with a nickname winocm announced that he had successfully jailbroken iOS 6.1.4 on his iPhone 5. And this is crucial since this is the first time this firmware version was hacked.

jailbreak ios 6 1 4 450x400 iPhone 5 Running iOS 6.1.4 Jailbroken

As you can see on the image above, the new jailbreak was tested on both GSM and CDMA models of the iPhone 5. It is also said to be compatible with the iPhone 4S, however, I have no idea whether this jailbreak will work with the iPhone 4.

According to Cody Lee of iDownloadBlog:

Winocm has been very busy lately, announcing and demonstrating his jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3—which we went hands on with last week—and now this. His progress is good news for folks who lost their jailbreak upgrading past iOS 6.1.2

Well, that’s all I wanted to say.

geveyultra Legal hardware unlock for iPhone 4 released

Gevey has released a new hardware unlock for iPhone 4 called Gevey Ultra SIM.

The main difference compared to the old Gevey unlock method is that you don’t have to dial 112. dialing 112/911 and hanging up is illegal in most countries, now this problem is gone.

Gevey Ultra works with

  • iOS 4.0, 4.1, 4.2.1, 4.3, 4.3.1, 4.3.2, 4.3.3
  • Basebands 1.59, 2.10, 3.10.1, 4.10, 4.10.1

Some sources claim that Gevey Ultra works even with the latest iOS 5 beta 1.

If you have 01.59 baseband you can still use free software ultrasn0w unlock. For everything else -- just buy Gevey Ultra for $35 here.

The installation is simple, but requires jailbreak. Good luck iOS 4.3.3 is jailbreakable. See our jailbreak instructions here (Mac OS) and here (Windows).

Take a look at the Gevey Ultra video demo:

ipad jailbroken

It seems that the recently released iPad 2 has been jailbroken. iOS hacker, known as Comex,  posted on his Twitter account that the iPad 2 jailbreak is underway. The Jailbreak has yet to be packaged. Comex has yet to say when the jailbreak will made public, and how it works, but we now at least know the iPad 2 is able to be jailbroken. On the shot above you may see the proof – the jailbroken white iPad 2 3G with Cydia ready to launch.

doesnt airplay1 500x265 Apple kills AirPlay on iPhone 3G [Video]

Multiple developers and users testing out the iOS 4.2 betas claim that the AirPlay functionality was definitely removed from Apple’s iPhone 3G. AirPlay is gone from the golden master version of iOS 4.2. In fact, the AirPlay did work on the iPhone 3G at the previous betas. There are no any reasonable causes why the AirPlay was cut from the GM version.  Perhaps, Apple is trying to get users to upgrade to their latest iPhone model or, on the other hand, it is just an issue in the GM seed. May be the AirPlay functionality will return in iOS 4.2 public release. Anyway, there will undoubtedly be a jailbreak that can re-enable it.

John Savio created a very amazing costume for Halloween, which looks like a real iPhone 4, but 10 times larger than the original. It is thin, has rounded corners, LED light on the back as a flash and even touchscreen. The costume was created from 40″ LED LCD Panel used as the smartphone’s screen. It is powered by two car batteries and run by Jailbroken iPhone 4, weighs roughly 75 lbs. The process of costume’s creation took about 40 hours to complete.

120 400x108 New Apple TV Allows App Installation, Needs Launcher

Developer Steven Troughton-Smith found out that iOS applications can installed on the new Apple TV. You only need to slightly modify the applications to identify them as Apple TV-compatible. Of course, Steven’s discovery is an important step in developers’ quest to run applications on the device, but the applications are not yet usable, as the Apple TV doesn’t have any application launcher that would be required for an app to function.

Today the new Apple TV has been jailbroken by hacker MuscleNerd from DevTeam. He used the SHAtter exploit. This means that hackers were able to gain full access to the device. Here is MuscleNerd’s comment on twitter:

AppleTV 2G SHAttered and jailbroken (not quite sure how to run apps yet!)

MuscleNerd and the rest of the Dev-Team will probably create a public release of some utility soon. Here is a youtube video showing off the jailbroken device:

iphonejailbreak 300x197 China Unicom Advertises Jailbreaking and Provides Free Cases with PurchaseAccording to the first-hand information in China, China Unicom is currently advertising services for jailbreaking when you buy the iPhone 4. Quite intriguing, right? Thanks to online services such as Jailbreakme.com, jailbreaking has become much easier and it seems that the Chinese carrier of cell phones can realize this service, turning it into a great marketing scheme.

According M.I.C. Gadget, the advertisement is as follows: “Support Service: Free SIM-trimming, jailbreaking, installing more than ten hot applications.”

However, with jailbreaking, China Unicom also offers free cases for your iPhone 4 with purchase, so buyers will not have to use the Apple’s case program.
