Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO, confirmed that the new software update iOS 4.x will appear in the near future to correct performance problems on the iPhone 3G, which works on iOS 4.x. He confirmed it while answering to the email he got from a user who was disappointed with the iPhone 3G performance running on iOS 4, describing it as “dog slow”.

Although he did not mention a specific version or date of its release we can guess that he was specking about iOS 4.1, which is going to be released next month, when iTV (Apple TV) and the next generation iPod touch will spotlight.

• iPhone 3G
• iPhone 3GS
• iPhone 4.

Apple did NOT release the patch for the first generation iPhones.

iOS 3.2.2 is intended to use on the iPad and iPad 3G.

You can update your device via the links above or simply by connecting your device to iTunes and clicking Update. But note, if you want to continue using jailbreak you should not update your handset/tablet and don’t forget to backup your SHSH blobs.

Now adding Flash to your iPhone and iPad is very easy. Apple didn’t want Flash to be on their devices. Several hackers created a project Frash – a Flash port for iPhone and iPad. Today it is available as a package in Cydia. To install follow these steps:

So you have an iPhone with iOS 4.0, but don’t have the original SIM and stuck on the Emergency Call Screen:

1. Download ifunbox software (download link)
2. Run ifunbox software and sync with phone
3. Go to /private/var/root/Library/, delete original lockdown folder and put this lockdown folder after you extract it from the zip file
4. Restart phone

MuscleNerd tweeted today that the recent redsn0w utility is able to jailbreak the iOS 4.1 beta2 on iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G. This is useful for developers only, however good news for everyone.

There is no official jailbreak utility for iOS 4.0.1. However you can still jailbreak and unlock iPhone 3G. Just do the following:

• Download the latest RedSn0w 0.9.5-b5 in our utilities page here.
• Download firmware images for iOS 4.0 here.
• Run RedSn0w and point it at the 4.0 IPSW. (Yes – point it at the 4.0 IPSW even though you’re at 4.0.1). This will also hacktivate your iPhone3G at 4.0.1 if you haven’t already been activated by iTunes.
• Install ultrasn0w in Cydia (add repository http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com) if you need a carrier unlock (and in the USA, remember to turn off 3G mode in Settings→General→Network).

MuscleNerd, famous hacker from DevTeam, has announced via Twitter that an upcoming comex release will jailbreak all 4.0 devices. This will include latest iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, new iPod Touch and iPad.

jailbreak for all devices at 4.0 is already handled by upcoming @comex release 🙂 so, good time for iphone4 unlock stuff

Comex is also well-known, he authored the 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 jailbreak called Spirit. He’s also recently demonstrated Frash, an upcoming release of Flash for the iPhone and iPad.

iH8Sn0w has successfully performed a tethered jailbreak for iPhone 3GS with new firmware  iOS 4 and the new bootrom. Unfortunately this jailbreak requires users to have 3.1.2 SHSH blobs saved.

Alright… If anyone has their 3.1.2 SHSH blobs, NOT 3.1.3. Then I’ll see if I can produce a tool that will do this job…
