evasi0n 429x400 The iOS 6.1 Untethered Jailbreak is Called Evasi0n

The Evad3rs Dev-Team has launched an official website for the jailbreak of iOS 6.1, called ‘Evasi0n’.

The official evasi0n 6.1 jailbreak: http://evasi0n.com — Check regularly for updates! #evasi0n

The site currently indicates the following status:

68%: Applications for Windows and OS X are finished. Remains linux and some testing. Come back soon!
Next step: private beta testing

A progress bar indicates the team is more than half way done the jailbreak. According to the team new Evasi0n untethered jailbreak is compatible with all iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and iPad mini models running iOS 6.0 through iOS 6.1.

The new team of hackers consists of Pod2g, Planetbeing, MuscleNerd, and Pimskeks. Following the release of iOS 6.1, Planetbeing confirmed that their untethered jailbreak works with the firmware and MuscleNerd hinted that the jailbreak could be released on Sunday.

ios61 release date Planetbeing confirmed iOS 6.1 untethered jailbreak releae in the near future

Hacker planetbeing corfirmed, that untethered iOS 6.1 jailbreak will be relaeased quite soon.

In terms of release date, we’re aiming for approximately a week out, but it’s possible it will come sooner or later than that.

You can upgrade if you want (I recommend iTunes backup and full restore) but there’s no reason to until jailbreak’s actually out.

Recently another hacker MuscleNerd tweeted, that utility might be released on Sunday.

This step-by-step tutorial will guide you through the process of full restore, that is highly recommended for iOS 6.1 jailbreak. You can use this tutorial for any iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

Important: do not update to iOS 6.1 if you need carrier unlock.

Step 1

Make a folder called “Firmware”. Download iOS 6.1 for your Apple device: here

jail61 500x176 iOS 6.1 Jailbreak to Support All 22 Device Variations

MuscleNerd, a popular hacker and member of the evad3rs, has revealed that the upcoming iOS 6.1 jailbreak will support all 22 device variations and likely the atv2.

@MuscleNerd is every other device supported?

@unicornhacker yes, every other 6.1 device variation will be supported. All TWENTY-TWO of them (omg!). Plus atv2 if it’s out in time.

Unfortunately, with the exploit that’s being used, the Apple TV 3 will not be supported.

@MuscleNerd @evad3rs_jb So those of us with atv3 still have to wait for a bootrom

@arovik not necessarily. Although atv3 uses far fewer services that can be tampered with, it’s not isolated. But it can’t use this next JB

The Apple TV 2 will be included in the upcoming jailbreak, according to MuscleNerd of the Evad3rs Dev-Team.

Awesome…as @EvilPenguin_ pointed out, we’re seeing the final ATV2 6.1 today too. So ATV2 will be covered by the JB (not ATV3 tho).

Unfortunately, as mentioned earlier the Apple TV 3G will not be supported by this jailbreak.

ios61 restore jail 500x142 Jailbreakers Should Update to iOS 6.1 Using iTunes, Not Using Software Update

Pimskeks of the Evad3rs Dev-Team reveals that those looking to apply the new iOS 6.1 jailbreak should update to the firmware using iTunes.

If you people plan to upgrade to iOS 6.1 please don’t do an OTA upgrade. Please make a full restore using iTunes.

Just moments ago Planetbeing confirmed that their untethered jailbreak works with new iOS 6.1 final firmware released by Apple today and MuscleNerd hinted that the jailbreak will be released this Sunday.

MuscleNerd offers some insight as to why this is necessary, “a few reasons: OTA is more time consuming for us to test, and it gives you different SHSH blobs than normal restore.”

jail 61 500x133 Jailbreak Works With iOS 6.1 Final, Sunday Release Hinted

Planetbeing has confirmed that their untethered jailbreak works with new iOS 6.1 final firmware released by Apple today.

iOS 6.1 appears to be vulnerable to the exploits we are planning on using. :)

In terms of code, we have two proof of concepts that we need to merge and polish, so we will not be ready to release until that and testing.

Notably, MuscleNerd has hinted that the team might release the jailbreak on Superbowl Sunday.

Hey, did everyone know the Super Bowl is this Sunday? What will you be doing? /cc @evad3rs http://evad3rs.com

evad3rs 300x168 Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 6.0 and iOS 6.1b4 is Ready

Pod2g confirmed that the Evad3rs Dev-Team is ready with a jailbreak for iOS 6.1 and credits Planetbeing and Pimskeks for the accomplishment in an interview with iDigitalTimes.

“For your information and this is important to me that everybody knows about it also, this jailbreak will be @planetbeing and @pimskeks. I arrived at the end, gave ideas that pushed them to their maximum, I kinda unblocked the situation, but it would certainly have happened without me helping.”

“Now I am helping as much as I can in terms of communication, websites, and also development, but I was not involved the same way as previous, focused on my work and all… Yes, in order @planetbeing, @pimskeks, then me.”

According to the hacker, iOS 6.0 is jailbroken as is iOS 6.1 Beta 4. The team is now waiting for iOS 6.1 GM to drop after which they can confirm there is no new security measures introduced. Once everything has been tested successfully the team will release the jailbreak. The public jailbreak will be free. It is rumored that all devices will are supported: iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 5G, iPad Mini, iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPad 4.

“6.0 is jailbroken, 6.1 beta 4 also. Now we are waiting 6.1 to confirm and release.”

The new Evad3rs Dev-Team consists of Pod2g, MuscleNerd, Planetbeing, and Pimskeks.

ios6 jail Planetbeing Declares The Future is Looking Bright for Jailbreaking

Another progress on the public jailbreak is reported by hacker planetbeing recently. Planetbeing has given us hope that a public jailbreak is near with his latest tweet.

Tons of progress the last few days. I think the future is looking bright for jailbreaking. :)

Progress on the public jailbreak appears to have accelerated after planetbeing teamed up with pod2g to find two new vulnerabilities. Previously, planetbeing said that its unlikely a jailbreak will be public until iOS 6.1 released, however, that is expected shortly.

So here’s something we haven’t heard in a while: good news on the jailbreak front. Pod2g and planetbeing have found two new vulnerabilities for future iOS 6 jailbreak. Unfortunately the initial code execution for a public jailbreak release is still missing.

Made some nice progress today with @pod2g. I think I’ll try to reward myself with a nap. :)

pod2g: @planetbeing oh yeah! 2 new vulnerabilities in a day, chance was with us. But we still miss that initial code execution for a public jb :/

It’s great that progress is being made. Hopefully, the two find that last piece of the puzzle and are able to release their jailbreak to rest of us.
