Chronic Dev Team released an update to untethered iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak utility – Absinthe 2.0.2. New version supports the latest iOS 5.1.1 9B208 firmware for iPhone 4 GSM. If you experience problems with previous versions – try 2.0.2

FireCore has announced an update to Seas0nPass that provides an untethered jailbreak for the latest 5.0.1 (5.1.1) firmware for the Apple TV 2G. Unfortunately Seas0nPass is not yet compatible with the new ATV3.

Don’t Forget to Save Your iOS 5.1.1 SHSH Blobs to preserve the ability to do iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak in the future. Apple might release updated iOS firmware soon to fix and disable the jailbreak. After next firmware release you will not be able to restore to 5.1.1 any more.

If you have Cydia installed already, you can check if Cydia have saved your iOS 5.1.1 SHSH keys. Just run Cydia and look at the top of the page:

If you see 5.1.1 – everything is fine, you don’t have to run TinyUmbrella.

Pod2g has announced that those looking to be ready for the iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak can now safely update if they don’t care about an unlock.

You can safely upgrade to 5.1.1 now if you want to be ready.

Huge warning as usual for unlockers that want to preserve their baseband to keep their unlock.

The iPhone Dev-Team released RedSn0w 0.9.11b4 with support for the tethered jailbreak of A4 devices on iOS 5.1.1 – iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 1, iPod Touch 3G and iPod Touch 4G.

Version 0.9.11b4 completes the tethered JB support for 5.1.1 on A4 devices and earlier, including proper “Stitching” and “Custom” creation of NO_BB IPSWs.

UPDATE: Gevey Ultra 5.1 does not work any more.

Gevey has released the Ultra 5.1 to unlock the GSM iPhone 4 on iOS 5.1. The new version supports the following modem versions: 01.59, 2.10, 3.10.1, 4.10.1, 4.11.08, and 4.12.01.

The new GEVEY Ultra unlocks your GSM iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1 and earlier and now supports modem firmware versions 1.59, 2.10, 3.10.1, 4.10.1, 4.11.08, and 4.12.01. Currently, a tethered Jailbreak is available for iOS 5.1 for iPhone 4, and you will also need to install the latest Furious Mod file for proper operation.

The iPhone Dev-Team has updated RedSn0w with the ability to save iPhone unlock tickets (SAM unlock).

redsn0w 0.9.10b8 adds the ability to backup arbitrary directories or files from your device into a zip file on your Mac or PC. The new button is Extras->Even More->Backup and it requires your device to be jailbroken with the afc2 service enabled (most jailbreaks include that). By default it will backup your activation records from /var/root/Library/Lockdown, which is useful for everyone taking advantage of today’s SAM unlock using Loktar_Sun’s trick

You can save unlock tickets through Extras -> Even More -> Backup.

A new unlock has been discovered that works for all iPhones and all 5.x firmware versions, all basebands are supported.

The method discovered by Loktar_Sun appears to exploit a logical bug in Apple’s server and can be performed on any jailbroken iOS device. His procedure involves using Sam Bingner’s SAM (Subscriber Artificial Module) package to perform a series of steps that unlocks your phone to use a specific SIM.

It has been confirmed working by iPhone Dev-Team member MuscleNerd who notes an update may be coming to SAM from @sbingner to make the procedure simpler.

The iPhone Dev-Team has updated RedSn0w to jailbreak the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 on iOS 5.0.1.

Version 0.9.10b7 of redsn0w adds a collection of useful features: It finally implements the corona-A5 jailbreak for iPhone4S and iPad2 devices still at 5.0.1. It can also re-install that jailbreak for those who accidentally uninstalled the untether. When stitching an IPSW, it can now grab your blobs directly from Cydia. It now shows a lot more info about your device (for instance, whether your iPhone3G has the vulnerable baseband boot loader, or whether your iPhone3GS has the old exploitable bootrom. (And the next new feature to be added will be built-in restore support, to provide an alternative to iTunes restores.)

Previously you needed to use Absinthe to jailbreak the iPhone 4S and iPad 2.
