cydia 1 169x300 Cydia Update 1.1.14 released with bug fixes cydia 2 169x300 Cydia Update 1.1.14 released with bug fixes cydia 3 169x300 Cydia Update 1.1.14 released with bug fixes

Saurik has just released an update to Cydia that brings us one step closer to a stable jailbreak.

Cydia 1.1.14 no longer causes your device to lock up while booting on iOS 8 when you use a passcode. If you have installed unsupported modifications you may want to restore and jailbreak again, as those modifications are not supported.

Here’s what’s new:

Multitasking Support on iOS 8:
Cydia now backgrounds almost like a regular application (but only on iOS 8). This has been a major architectural change: please alert us to any issues.

This allows you to switch back/forth between Cydia and other applications (Such as Safari, or the Google two-factor authentication app) without losing your package selection state.

New Window and Hijack Blocking:
One of the biggest complaints about Cydia in the last year has been a new kind of ad seen on some repositories: a sudden redirect to the App Store.

Cydia now blocks “popups” and asks the user before opening the App Store.

Partial iPhone 6 Plus Support:
Cydia supports rotation on the iPhone 6 Plus and has a new @3x icon and tabbar. Cydia renders at the native resolution on both the 6 and 6 Plus.

Videos Work Again (on iOS 7.1-8.1):
Cydia on iOS 7.1 had an issue where playing video would cause the device to “lock up”. This bug has finally been fixed! The new iOS 8 video issue (a YouTube error message) is also fixed.

Localization Works Now on iOS 8:
Users of Cydia 1.1.13 (only available via a manual installation process) may have noticed Cydia only displayed in English :( . This has been fixed! Yay!

Queue Status is “Less Incorrect”:
Sometimes Cydia would not have packages queued but claim it did, or would have packages queued and claim it did not; this happens less ;P.

Saurik also notes that there are still some issues specific to iOS 8.

“When installing packages that put icons on SpringBoard, the icons may not appear. Rebooting might make them appear. This is because our ‘uicache’ tool, which refreshes icons, has not yet been updated for iOS 8. We are working on this, and a fix will come later as part of the UIKit Tools package as soon as we can manage.”

Hopefully now that the major passcode issue has been resolved, we may see a stable release of the Pangu jailbreak utility with Cydia.

The PanguTeam has just released an update for their utility for untethered jailbreak of iOS 8 – 8.1. According to what the hackers write, this update contains important improvements and bug fixes for Cydia, Mobile Substrate, iMessage and Safari. Those who had problems with these apps or those who waited for the stable version of Pangu8 can now upgrade to iOS 8.1 and jailbreak their devices with no fear at all. Everything will work fine, the developers claim.

The incremental update fixes the Cydia Substrate loading issue upon reboot, iMessage picture sending, and Safari bugs. It’s advised that all jailbroken users update now.

And now let’s find out what one should do to update the jailbreak utility created by the Chinese developers. There’s nothing complicated. You need to launch the Pangu app, which should be located on your Home screen and then you need to tap the Manager tab at the very bottom of the screen. One more tap on the arrow button and the download begins. After a while, your device will reboot and that means that the installation of the update for the untether is successfully finished.

The PanguTeam on Saturday released an important update on the status of its jailbreak utility for iOS 8 – 8.1. As you probably know, earlier this week, the hackers released a new version of untethered jailbreak for iOS 8 – 8.1. It should be noted, however, that this version turned out to be very unstable and was available only for Windows users, that is why the PaunguTeam decided to pull the update back and make it available only for jailbreak developers.

pangu ios 8 upd 500x303 PanguTeam Releases Update on iOS 8 8.1 Jailbreak

A couple of days ago, Cydia and Mobile Substrate were not working and in the same state they remain now. The hackers say they are currently working hard to make the jailbreak utility work fine as soon as possible. They also ask to keep patience and wait for further updates on the topic.

We are working with @saurik to make Cydia stable asap. Also we are fixing bugs include Safari and iMessage problems. Please wait ..

To make your iOS device compatible with iOS 8 – 8.1 ready for untethered jailbreak, I suggest that you should upgrade to the latest firmware version, which is iOS 8.1 using iTunes. It is a bit safer than using a Software Update option. Stay tuned for more news on the topic.

iOS 8 jailbreak 1 491x400 Pangu released Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 8 iOS 8.1

Saurik has already indicated that he will work hard to get Cydia compatible as soon as possible.

So, windknown has contacted me, about a half hour ago, via e-mail. He has told me one of the issues that is keeping Substrate from working on the device, which will probably require me to build a little binary patch for dyld as part of the Substrate installation sequence. This was the worst possible day for me, as I’m traveling back to Santa Barbara today (I’m currently in Texas, having come here to give a talk at The Big Android BBQ), which means this will take me a little longer than I’d like, but clearly getting Cydia and Substrate working on iOS 8 is my highest priority. I thankfully think that I actually can start working a little on one of the Substrate issues using an iOS 7 “model” based on the information provided by windknown, which means I’ll lose less time to not having all of my devices with me. (I currently have no clue why Cydia itself is not functioning, but will find out later today when I can see it myself.)

Update:
The Pangu team has pulled the original download link, likely to address some bugs. We recommend you follow iClarified to find out when a safe version is available.

Update x2:
Pangu8 1.0.1 has been released resolving an issue that could cause the loss of your photos. You can download Pangu8 here.
Once its confirmed that the jailbreak is safe and Cydia and Mobile Substrate are working we will posted detailed instructions on how to jailbreak your device.

Update: iOS 8 compartible Cydia released.

According to the latest rumors, both Evasi0n and Pangu jailbreak utilities have been recently nominated for 2014 Pwnie Awards. This award is presented to those developers and security researchers, who find bugs or important exploits in the software. This year’s award will be given to a developer (or the developers) that made some important discoveries in the period of the past twelve months.

jailbreak award 500x203 Evasi0n and Pangu Jailbreak Utilities Are Nominated for 2014 Pwnie Awards

Both the Evasi0n and Pangu jailbreaks for iOS 7 have been nominated for 2014 Pwnie awards. The Pwnie Awards celebrate the achievements of security researchers and developers who find certain bugs and exploits. The awards cover bugs disclosed over the last year (July 2013 – June 2014).

Last year the Pwnie Award was given to a developer nicknamed Planetbeing. It is very difficult to predict whom judges will choose this year as both Evasi0n and Pangu tools for jailbreak are worth winning the award.

If to speak about me, I would probably choose Evasi0n as the people behind this product were using their own exploits and methods for jailbreaking iOS 7, unlike the authors of Pangu.

Pangu 1.1.0 Pangu v1.1.0 jailbreak is now available

UPDATE: Works on iOS 7.1.2 as well.

The Pangu team has updated iOS 7.1.1 untethered jailbreak utility to version 1.1.0. They added support for Mac OS X and English version, fixed several bugs (including boot loop bug) and removed the ability to install pirate appstore (PPSync) from English version. Unfortunately to jailbreak community they also used another new exploit instead of i0n1c’s one used in v.1.0. This is no good, since Apple might both in iOS 8 or even iOS 7.1.2.

What’s New In This Version:
1. Add English support.
2. Optimize the file size.
3. Fix the boot loop bug.
4. Using new info leak bug instead of @i0n1c’s
5. Add online self verification

If you successfully jailbroke your iOS 7.1.x device before using Pangu, then there is no reason for you to do anything at this time. If however you’ve been having issues, it might be a smart thing to do to restore and try again with Pangu 1.1.0.

You can download Pangu 1.1 for Windows and Mac OS from here. Our famous step-by-step instructions are available here.
