exploit ios7 500x167 iOS 7.1b4 Blocks Kernel Exploit Used In Evasi0n iOS 7 Jailbreak

Do not expect iOS 7.1 jailbreak soon. Apple has reportedly blocked the kernel exploit used by the evasi0n 7 jailbreak utility. According to iH8sn0w the exploit was blocked in the recent iOS 7.1b4 firmware:

So the code sign bug that evasi0n7 uses still exists in 7.1b4. Kernel exploit looks patched though :P

meaning… Don’t expect an evasi0n7 update for 7.1b4+ support.

The news is unfortunate; however, we still don’t know what exploits will be blocked in the final release of iOS 7.1 and what exploits the evad3rs have alternatives for.

The evad3rs have just released a new version of their jailbreak tool – evasi0n7 1.0.4, which is expected to bring numerous security improvements to the iOS 7 jailbreak.

evasion 1.0.4 500x400 Evad3rs Release Evasi0n7 1.0.4 with Important Untether Security Fixes

Here’s what the hackers have said:

evasi0n7 updated to 1.0.4 at http://evasi0n.com with important untether security fixes & (we hope) no more iPad mini Retina JB issues!

Existing JB users will receive the evasi0n7 1.0.4 untether security update through Cydia as soon as @saurik refreshes his repository!

In order to keep your iOS devices secured, it is recommended that you use the latest version of the tool for untethered jailbreak. One can download evasi0n7 1.0.4 here.

Evad3rs have released a new version of their jailbreak tool. Evasi0n7 1.0.3 is compatible with computers running both OS X and Windows; it also contains a number of important fixes and improvements.

Apart from that, those who want to try out the new iOS 7 beta 3 can now install and jailbreak it using the latest evasi0n7 1.0.3.

According to iDownloadBlog,

Evasi0n 7 1.0.3 has just been released for OS X and Windows with a fix for the boot loop issue that has been plaguing Retina iPad mini users. The release, which is the fourth of the jailbreak tool, also includes support for iOS 7.1 beta 3 and a new Cydia bundle.

The company from Cupertino has recently released iOS 7 beta 3. If you’re planning to jailbreak your iPhone or iPad running the latest beta using the official evasi0n7 tool, well, I should disappoint you – it won’t work. However, there’s another way out.

unofficial jailbreak 500x241 Unofficial Jailbreak for iOS 7 beta 3 Appeared on the Internet

According to Jeff Benjamin of iDownloadBlog,

A modified version of the Evasi0n7 jailbreak tool began making its rounds around the internet this afternoon. This unofficial version of Evasi0n7 was created in order to jailbreak the just released iOS 7.1 beta 3.

What is interesting about this version is that it is apparently developed by a group of hackers from Russia. Does this mean that evad3rs now have a new and extremely strong rival? Who knows.

According to iH8sn0w, iOS 7.1 beta 3 doesn’t patch evasi0n7 untethered jailbreak. The hacker, however, thinks that in the next beta Apple will surely patch the exploits.

ios7.1 beta3 jail It is Possible to Jailbreak Devices Running iOS 7.1 Beta 3 Using Evasi0n7 Tool

As noted by iDownloadBlog,

With today’s release of iOS 7.1 beta 3, many people feared that exploits used in the evasi0n7 jailbreak would be patched. As it appears, and even though evasi0n7 cannot jailbreak iOS 7.1 beta 3 as is, Apple didn’t patch evasi0n7.

iOS 7.1 is expected to be released in March, probably at the same time with Apple’s new 5-inch phablet. Well, at least this is what anonymous sources from the supply chain claim.

As you probably know, not long ago evad3rs released their untethered jailbreak for iOS 7. Right after the release, many iPad 2 owners began to complain that their tablets won’t boot properly. Good news – the hackers came up with a fix for the problem; it is called Evasi0n 1.0.2 and it’s a beta that is said to be very helpful for all those who have problems with second-gen iPads (Wi-Fi models in particular).

evad3rs evasi0n 1.0.2 500x400 Evad3rs Release Evasi0n 1.0.2 with Fixes for iPad 2

Here’s what evad3rs claim:

News for the iPad 2 wifi on 7.0.4: we looked at it with @planetbeing. We know what is the issue now, we’re working on a clean fix.

1.0.2 (beta) is up on http://evasi0n.com. Fixes iPad 2 wifi boot loop.

As noted above, the fix is available on the evad3rs’ official website. It is still a beta-version, so it may happen it doesn’t work on all of the devices. Be patient and wait for the updates.

Evad3rs have recently released an updated version of their untether in Cydia that contains a bunch of improvements. The most important is probably a tweak that saurik requires to fix the problem with MobileSubstrate and make it fully functional.

As noted by Evad3rs (via iClarified),

Version 0.2 of this package is what came with evasi0n7 1.0.1; it removes the TaiG splash screen and adds some features that saurik will be relying on in future updates to other packages. Users who jailbreak with evasi0n7 1.0.1 already have version 0.2 of this package installed.

One can install the new untether via the Changes tab in Cydia.

evasion7 101 500x400 Evad3rs released Evasi0n iOS 7 version 1.0.1

The evad3rs team released evasi0n7 1.0.1 with the removal of TaiG App Store from the installer. No word on any other changes in the 1.0.1 version of evasi0n7. You can download the new version here.

Pod2g announced the news on twitter:

We have heard the community. Evasi0n 1.0.1 is available on http://evasi0n.com. TaiG has been removed from the package. Merry Christmas!

iPad 2 issue has not been fixed yet. For those that keep getting stuck on boot logo with iPad 2 models, the team promises that a fix is coming.

We still have to work on the compatibility issue with the iPad 2, but we have been busy celebrating with our family… Tomorrow probably!

A Chinese company reportedly paid evad3rs $1 million to install its third-party mobile application – Taig store. This app replaced Cydia on devices with default language set to Chinese. As to the hackers, they confirmed that they had received a kind of compensation from Taig. Take a look at the open letter posted on evad3rs’ official website:

Yes, we have benefitted financially from our work, just as many others in the jailbreak community have, including tweak developers, repo owners, etc. Any jailbreak from us will always be free to the users but we believe we have a right to be compensated in an ethical way, just as any other developer.

Well, I don’t think it’s strange that the creators of untethered jailbreak for iOS 7 accepted such an advantageous offer. They need money to continue their work on jailbreak. If they had no money, we wouldn’t have jailbroken iPhones, iPads and iPods. It’s simple.

p0sixspwn 225x400 Untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch 4G with iOS 6.1.3 6.1.5

H8sn0w has announced the release of an untether package for the old devices running iOS 6.1.3 – 6.1.5. This includes iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch 4G.

With the unexpected release of the evasi0n7 jailbreak, we are finally able to release the 3GS/A4 6.1.3 + 6.1.5 untether Cydia package.

To get the package you must have already performed a tethered jailbreak via redsn0w or sn0wbreeze. Simply open Cydia, refresh the packages from the Changes tab, and then search for “p0sixspwn”.

Sn0wbreeze will be updated at some point to incorporate the untether directly. The next priority is a jailbreak for all devices on iOS 6.1.3 and iOS 6.1.4, including A5 devices (iPad 2/3/4, iPhone 4S/5, etc).

H8sn0w says no eta, however:

We expect it should be out by Christmas day. So if you don’t feel like upgrading to iOS 7 and prefer 6.1.3/6.1.4, sit tight for a bit. :)
