Good news for all iPhone 3G and iPod touch 4G owners – a jailbreak tool called p0sixspwn has been updated to support the recently released iOS 6.1.6. Using this small utility, you can perform an untethered jailbreak effortless.

p0sixspwn updated P0sixspwn Jailbreak Tool Updated to Support iOS 6.1.6

According to what iDownloadBlog reporters write,

If you’re currently using an iPhone 3GS or a 4th generation iPod touch running iOS 6.1.x, it’s highly recommended that you update to iOS 6.1.6, and benefit from Apple’s SSL fix. The good news is that you can then use p0sixspwn to enjoy the same untethered jailbreak that was available for iOS 6.1.3 through iOS 6.1.5.

P0sixspwn is a jailbreak tool developed by iH8sn0w and Winocm. It can be downloaded from Cydia’s ‘System’ section. However, before downloading p0sixspwn you need to perform a tethered jailbreak using RedSn0w or any other utility.

Keep in mind that it is recommended that you update to the latest iOS 6.1.6 as soon as possible since it contains a fix for SSL connection verification.

The p0sixspwn untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 – 6.1.5 was updated on January 5th to version 1.0.5. The updated jailbreak tool is available for both Macs and Windows-based computers. It features OS X Snow Leopard support, several bugfixes and a number of other improvements. The update was announced by one of the hackers that created p0sixspwn – iH8Sn0w – on Twitter:

So, if you still haven’t jailbroken your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch – it is perfect time to do that I guess. You can download the utility here.

As you probably know, a few days ago iH8sn0w, winocm and SquiffyPwn have released an untethered jailbreak for smartphones and tablets running iOS 6.1.3 – 6.1.5 – p0sixspwn. At first it was available only for Mac users, however, things have changed. Yes, you’ve got that right, p0sixspwn (version 1.0.4) for Windows is finally out.

At the same time, the new version of the jailbreak utility for Mac – 1.0.3 – is coming soon. If you have any problems with 1.0.2, it is recommended that you update to 1.0.3 since it is more stable.

Don’t forget to make a backup before jailbreaking your device and remember you hack your smartphone or tablet at your own risk.

One can download p0sixspwn for both Mac (version 1.0.2) and Windows (version 1.0.4) here.

iH8sn0w and winocm have posted a new video teasing an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3, 6.1.4, and 6.1.5. The video demonstrates the untethered jailbreak on a n78ap (iPod touch 5) running iOS 6.1.3.

p0sixspwn 225x400 Untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch 4G with iOS 6.1.3 6.1.5

H8sn0w has announced the release of an untether package for the old devices running iOS 6.1.3 – 6.1.5. This includes iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch 4G.

With the unexpected release of the evasi0n7 jailbreak, we are finally able to release the 3GS/A4 6.1.3 + 6.1.5 untether Cydia package.

To get the package you must have already performed a tethered jailbreak via redsn0w or sn0wbreeze. Simply open Cydia, refresh the packages from the Changes tab, and then search for “p0sixspwn”.

Sn0wbreeze will be updated at some point to incorporate the untether directly. The next priority is a jailbreak for all devices on iOS 6.1.3 and iOS 6.1.4, including A5 devices (iPad 2/3/4, iPhone 4S/5, etc).

H8sn0w says no eta, however:

We expect it should be out by Christmas day. So if you don’t feel like upgrading to iOS 7 and prefer 6.1.3/6.1.4, sit tight for a bit. :)

If you use a jailbroken iPhone 5, then this article will be interesting for you. Yesterday, a hacker with a nickname winocm announced that he had successfully jailbroken iOS 6.1.4 on his iPhone 5. And this is crucial since this is the first time this firmware version was hacked.

As you can see on the image above, the new jailbreak was tested on both GSM and CDMA models of the iPhone 5. It is also said to be compatible with the iPhone 4S, however, I have no idea whether this jailbreak will work with the iPhone 4.

According to Cody Lee of iDownloadBlog:

Winocm has been very busy lately, announcing and demonstrating his jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3—which we went hands on with last week—and now this. His progress is good news for folks who lost their jailbreak upgrading past iOS 6.1.2

Well, that’s all I wanted to say.

A hacker named winocm claims he has a binary that can perform an untethered jailbreak of the iOS 6.1.3. This announcement has been spotted on Twitter today.

I now have a binary that untethers 6.1.3. Needs some more work though.

A tethered jailbreak is now available for the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4G running iOS 6.1.3. winocm says, he has tested the code only on his own iPhone 4. What is interesting, though, is that the hacker doesn’t work on the jailbreak for iOS 7.

I have my own code running inside the iOS 6.1.3 kernel on iPhone 4. It’s not useful on iOS 7. I don’t care about iOS 7. Other people are taking care of iOS 7.

If you have an iPhone and look forward to news from winocm concerning the new jailbreak, you may follow this person on Twitter.

ios7 jail Hacker p0sixninja plans to release Something Bigger Than a Jailbreak

Well known iPhone hacker p0sixninja has teased the upcoming release of some ‘amazing things’ on Twitter that are bigger than a jailbreak.

Last night he tweeted:

I got a lot of amazing things coming to you all soon. think bigger than jailbreak ;)

In March, p0sixninja revealed that he had found the exploits necessary to release a new jailbreak; however, as expected, he decided to hold those back for iOS 7 or iOS 7.1.

His new announcement hints at something better than a jailbreak which suggests that perhaps he has found a bootrom exploit. The last bootrom exploit was limera1n found by Geohot which supported the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G, and iPad. The exploit made those devices permanently vulnerable to a tethered jailbreak.

pwned P0sixninja will hold back his jailbreak exploits for iOS 7

P0sixninja has revealed that he will not be using his jailbreak exploits to release iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak. He plans to hold them back for iOS 7 or iOS 7.1.

Recently the hacker tweeted that the ‘the next jailbreak might be created entirely by me‘ saying that he had discovered several exploits needed for the new jailbreak.

In an interview to iDesignTimes p0sixninja commented that he will definitely not release jailbreak for iOS 6.x.

“I will at least wait for 7.0, if not even 7.1″

To that he added:

“I’ve … been working on it [a while]. Some of them [vulnerabilities] were ideas I had years ago, but everyone said I was crazy, and I’ve just started looking into them more and realizing I was right…”

evasi0n 500x281 Cydia Сounts 18 Million Jailbroken Devices in Six Weeks

Saurik reports that about 18 million devices were counted by Cydia in the last six weeks, between untethered jailbreak release and iOS 6.1.3 which blocks this jailbreak. According to Forbes:

In the six weeks since evasi0n was released, however, close to 18 million devices have already been jailbroken, according to data from Jay Freeman, the administrator of the Cydia app store for jailbroken devices. He says he’s counted 18.2 million unique devices running iOS 6 visiting Cydia, including 13.8 million iPhones, 3.4 million iPads, and 1.1 million iPod Touches. Those numbers vastly exceed previous jailbreaks such as Jailbreakme 3, a popular hacking tool for iOS released in the summer of 2011 that was used on around 2 million devices, according to a count at the time by creator Nicholas Allegra.

The jailbreak game is not over. Famous hacker planetbeing says that at least one bug remains unpatched. Hackers will search for other ones for sure.

If you are still on iOS 6.1.2 or lower, you can find instructions on how to jailbreak your device here.
