Apple on Wednesday released iOS 8 to users worldwide. As it was expected, the new mobile operating system brings lots of improvements and bug fixes. Apart from that, it is far more secured and efficient and can boast lots of new features. The most noticeable among them are the widely-rumored Health app, QuickType, the support of third-party keyboards, updated Mail, Photos, Camera and Safari and the apps like Continuity, Handoff, AirDrop, Instant Hotspot, which were previously unavailable for users.

iOS 8 delivers a simpler, faster and more intuitive user experience with new Messages and Photos features, predictive typing for Apple’s QuickType keyboard and Family Sharing. iOS 8 also includes the new Health app, giving you a clear overview of your health and fitness data and iCloud Drive, so you can store files and access them from anywhere.

For more details about the latest iOS version, go to Apple’s official website. The update is available via Software Update, but those who use jailbroken devices and want to save their jailbreak should stay away from iOS 8. Keep this in mind.

Good news for all jailbreakers – looks like Apple’s new iOS 8 is jailbreakable. According to what security expert Stefan Esser (aka i0n1c) has tweeted a couple of hours ago, the guys from Cupertino haven’t fixed the kernel bug used to jailbreak iOS-devices. This means that immediately after the public release of iOS 8 we may have a jailbreak for it.

Here’s what the hacker writes about the new version of the mobile operating system for iPhone and iPad:

Download finished. Initial tests show that iOS 8 beta does not fix anything. Dumped kernel fine, but code changed and patches are not found.

I guess tomorrow I need a few hours in the office to fix the code and then the JB should be iOS 8 beta compatible.

Only question is if Cydia runs at all in iOS 8.

Last month, i0n1c announced his jailbreak for iOS 7.1.1. Looks like the same utility will be able to hack the devices running iOS 8. However, I don’t think Esser or any other hacker will release a jailbreak for iOS 7.1.1 or iOS 8 now. You see, this may help Apple to fix the vulnerability used for jailbreaking. This is definitely not the thing we all need, right?

The evad3rs have released new Evasi0n7 1.0.6. The updated jailbreak tool version allows to hack the devices running latest iOS 7.0.6. Looks like you don’t have to wait or search for alternative patches as I recommended yesterday. All you need to do is to upgrade to iOS 7.0.6 and then run the Evasi0n7 tool.

According iDownloadBlog,

Following Apple’s release yesterday of iOS 7.0.6, the evad3rs have released an update to their evasi0n7 jailbreak tool. The update, which brings the tool to version 1.0.6. included a fix for an SSL connection verification issue, which turned out to be a major security flaw in the operating system.

Before jailbreaking your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, make sure you backed up all the important files from your device.

One can download Evasi0n7 1.0.6 from the official website. As always, it is available for free.

A well-known member of the jailbreak community nicknamed Winocm will soon start working at Apple. As he tweeted a couple of hours ago, he’ll take up his new duties “later this year”. As to his position at the company, it remains unknown.

According to iDownloadBlog,

Another famous hacker is joining the ranks at Apple. Following in the footsteps of jailbreak community members Comex, and Peter Hajas, jailbreak developer Winocm announced this afternoon on Twitter that he would be joining Apple.

Winocm played an important role in development of a series of jailbreak versions. Apart from that, he took part in other important projects.

I hope that the company from Cupertino will include lots of tweaks created by third-party developers and hackers to iOS and Apple’s mobile operating system will become even better. Agree? Leave your answers below.

Apple has recently released iOS 7.0.6 to public. At the same time, the company from Cupertino seeded iOS 6.1.6 to users. Both updates contain a fix for SSL connection verification, so you should update your device. Be sure.

However, I recommend you to wait a bit, since Evasi0n7 1.0.5 isn’t yet compatible with the latest iOS version. If you can’t wait, you may look for unofficial patches for the jailbreak tool.

As noted by iDownloadBlog,

From the surface, it looks like iOS 7.0.6, which carries a build number of 11b651, just contains a fix for SSL connection verification. It is for all devices. And as for iOS 6.1.6, it carries a build number of 10b500, and is just for the iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4G.

The previous version of Apple’s mobile operating system was released at the end of January and contained a number of bug fixes and improvements.

One can download iOS 7.0.6 and iOS 6.1.6 via Software Update or through iTunes.

The company from Cupertino will release the final version of its iOS 7.1 to the public no sooner than in March. Apart from the new mobile operating system, Apple is expected to unveil the next-generation Apple TV.

But let’s get back to iOS. According to the latest 9to5Mac report,

The iOS 7.1 update is said to not have any “secret features,” and it will basically be what we have been told to expect by the past five betas: some user-interface tweaks in the Phone app, an improved Calendar app, speed improvements, and numerous bug-fixes.

Apple hasn’t yet set the date of the release, but obviously it will do that a bit later.

However, it is still unknown whether it would be possible to jailbreak iOS 7.1. As iH8Sn0w says, the vulnerabilities used by evasi0n7 were fixed in the latest iOS 7.1 beta. Nevertheless, hackers still have some unused exploits, so let’s hope for the best.

I0n1c confirmed that it is safe to update to iOS 7.0.5 if you have a jailbroken device. This version of Apple’s mobile operating system is still vulnerable to the evasi0n7 jailbreak exploits. Here’s what the hacker posted on Twitter:

Okay #evasi0n7 still works in iPhone 5s at 7.0.5

ios 7.0.5 jail 500x323 Evasi0n7 Jailbreak Works on iOS 7.0.5, Requires Patch

Nevertheless, to successfully jailbreak a device running iOS 7.0.5 you will need a special patch for evasi0n7.

To make evasi0n work with iOS 7.0.5 one way is to patch 11B511 into 11B601 in the binary. Ehmm btw… the patch are not hex bytes but simple ASCII iOS build numbers that need to be fixed.

It’s good that Apple forgot to fix the vulnerability, which lets the users jailbreak their devices.

Many people don’t like iOS 7 and this has been proven by thousands or even millions of users who complain and ask Apple to bring back the old school design. Quite obvious, nobody will do that, so the only way to make your iOS 7 device look more like the iOS 6 gadget is to jailbreak it and use various Cydia tweaks to adjust the look of the operating system.

One of such tweaks is ClassicSwitcher -- a tool developed to bring the old school app switcher to iPhones and, what is very important, to iPads running iOS 7. This tweak hasn’t yet been released, but soon it will be available in Cydia.

According to iDownloadBlog,

Not only does it bring the old school switcher functionality to iOS 7, but it brings along with it several goodies as well.

And here’s the short video, which gives us a sneak peek at ClassicSwitcher, take a look:

Saurik has warned the iOS 7 users and jailbreakers not to install the unofficial MobileSubstrate patches that begin to appear on the Internet. The reason for such warning is quite simple – MobileSubstrate hasn’t yet been updated to work with Apple’s new operating system and that can lead to serious consequences.

beware substrate 447x400 Beware of Unofficial MobileSubstrate Patches!

Here’s what saurik says himself (via iClarified):

This is horribly dangerous: MSHookFunction is not designed to be used on functions that might actively be running; this makes Substrate get injected into launchd while launchd is loading launch daemons… no one should install this; it doesn’t even solve the problem remotely correctly for anything but SpringBoard/backboardd, and will end up leaving you with Substrate having been randomly applied to different background processes.

What saurik suggests us to wait for the official update. Well, I guess it’s better to listen to the experienced programmer.

Good news for all those who have an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS 7 – all of a sudden, evad3rs released an untethered jailbreak for the seventh version of Apple’s mobile operating system. Evasion 7 jailbreak utility was released December 22nd. A kind of a Christmas present from hackers, huh?

ios 7 jailbreak 500x305 Evad3rs Release Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 7

In a move that I think caught all of us way off-guard, the evad3rs have just released an untethered jailbreak for iOS 7. The team is calling the hack evasi0n7, and it’s compatible with all iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and iPad mini models running iOS 7.0 through 7.0.4.

What’s even better is that the iOS 6.1.x users, who previously successfully hacked their devices, can upgrade without losing jailbreak. So if you want to see something new on your iPhone, go ahead and try out jailbroken iOS 7. I’m almost sure you will like it.

You can download evasion 7 jailbreak utility here.
