P0sixninja has revealed that he will not be using his jailbreak exploits to release iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak. He plans to hold them back for iOS 7 or iOS 7.1.

Recently the hacker tweeted that the ‘the next jailbreak might be created entirely by me‘ saying that he had discovered several exploits needed for the new jailbreak.

In an interview to iDesignTimes p0sixninja commented that he will definitely not release jailbreak for iOS 6.x.

“I will at least wait for 7.0, if not even 7.1″

To that he added:

“I’ve … been working on it [a while]. Some of them [vulnerabilities] were ideas I had years ago, but everyone said I was crazy, and I’ve just started looking into them more and realizing I was right…”

Saurik reports that about 18 million devices were counted by Cydia in the last six weeks, between untethered jailbreak release and iOS 6.1.3 which blocks this jailbreak. According to Forbes:

In the six weeks since evasi0n was released, however, close to 18 million devices have already been jailbroken, according to data from Jay Freeman, the administrator of the Cydia app store for jailbroken devices. He says he’s counted 18.2 million unique devices running iOS 6 visiting Cydia, including 13.8 million iPhones, 3.4 million iPads, and 1.1 million iPod Touches. Those numbers vastly exceed previous jailbreaks such as Jailbreakme 3, a popular hacking tool for iOS released in the summer of 2011 that was used on around 2 million devices, according to a count at the time by creator Nicholas Allegra.

The jailbreak game is not over. Famous hacker planetbeing says that at least one bug remains unpatched. Hackers will search for other ones for sure.

The Evad3rs Team have released an update to the Evasi0n jailbreak utility. Evasi0n 1.2 fixes timezone issue in evasi0n binary if client fails to correct it and disables OTA updates, which are not good for jailbroken devices.

If you’re already jailbroken – there is no need to rejailbreak, just run Cydia and install updates there. There is nothing in evasi0n 1.2 that is not already in Cydia.

This is pretty interesting. Pod2g just announced that the new iOS 6.1.1 beta that Apple seeded to developers yesterday does not actually patch the exploits used in the latest jailbreak.

6.1.1 beta (10B311) does not fix the jailbreak. It’ll probably happen in a future revision. Don’t upgrade though, evasi0n won’t let you jb.

At least not yet anyway. Remember, this is just beta 1 of what will likely be 3 or 4 developer releases. But for the time being, pod2g says that 6.1.1 does not fix any of the jailbreak’s security holes.

The Evad3rs Team have released an update to the Evasi0n jailbreak utility. Evasi0n 1.1 has fixes for a few bugs: one that caused the Weather app to crash, and another that caused longer reboot times.

Many users experience problems with Cydia. This is normal. Due to the release of untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1 hundreds thousands of users started to do jailbreak and use Cydia. Cydia servers are having hard time right now.

Here are some of the most common errors we’re seeing:

• HTTP/1.1 502 Bad Gateway
• HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found
• HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error
• Hash Sum mismatch

Our best advice? As pod2g says, your best bet is trying again a little bit later.

If you have problems with Cydia sources, it’s ok, it’s just that they are under heavy load at the moment. Try again later.

iOS 6.1 jailbreak is 99% ready. It is expected to be released in about 1 hour. Stay tuned.

While waiting for the jailbreak many users have found that evad3rs have hard coded the progress bar of the evasi0n jailbreak to reach completion quite soon. According to our calculations, the progress bar will reach 100% at February 4th, 2013 at 17:00 UTC, which is 12pm Noon EST.

MuscleNerd, a popular hacker and member of the evad3rs, has revealed that the upcoming iOS 6.1 jailbreak will support all 22 device variations and likely the atv2.

Unfortunately, with the exploit that’s being used, the Apple TV 3 will not be supported.
