DevTeam released a new version of RedSn0w 0.9.6 rc10. Short after that they released a fix for that – RedSn0w 0.9.6 rc11.

DevTeam have added boot animation logo, removed some unnecessary settings, and fixed some bugs.

Everything else is the same – untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.1 for all devices and both Windows and Mac OS X users.

Those running redsn0w may have noticed we enabled too many Settings options in some versions of the jailbreak (for instance, what you want your side switch to do, even if you have no side switch because you’re not using an iPad). Release rc10 of redsn0w corrects that (you can just run it over your existing jailbreak…be sure to de-select Cydia to avoid package conflicts).

Along the way, we’ve also added the option to enable boot animations…these animations can be installed via Cydia, but be sure to select which animation to use via the Settings->Bootlogo setting after you’ve downloaded an animation (and again, you can just run rc10 rc11 over your existing jailbreak…be sure to de-select Cydia to avoid package conflicts).

(The boot animation we tested against was “Android Boot Logo”. It correctly installs all the dependencies needed to run the animation at each boot).

ih8sn0w released Sn0wBreeze 2.5 – utility to untether jailbreak iOS 4.3 for Windows. It uses the same method as Redsn0w 0.9.6 rc9 and Pwnagetool 4.3.

Sn0wbreeze also preserves your baseband, which is very useful for unlockers. That is why it is so-called Pwnagetool for Windows. With Sn0wbreeze you can update to firmware iOS 4.3.1, while preserve old unlockable baseband. It also works with iPhone 3GS with 06.15 baseband.

Sn0wBreeze 2.5 does not support iPhone 4 Verizon and iPad 2.

The 4.3.1 untether works on all Apple devices that support 4.3.1 except for the iPad2:

• iPod Touch 3G
• iPod Touch 4G
• iPad 1
• AppleTV 2G (PwnageTool only for now)

Ultrasn0w doesn’t work on iOS 4.3.1 yet (even with iOS 4.3.1 + old baseband). The fix will be available soon. Here’s a warning from DevTeam for unlockers:

ultrasn0w users don’t update yet! We need to first release an update to ultrasn0w that fixes some incompatibilities when FW 4.3.1 is used on the older basebands supported by ultrasn0w.  And remember once we do fix ultrasn0w for 4.3.1 (we’ll announce it here and on twitter), you must only get there via a custom IPSW from PwnageTool, Sn0wbreeze or xpwn!  Don’t ever try to restore or update to a stock IPSW, or you’ll lose the unlock!

Hacker I0nic has given his untether exploit for the iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak to the iPhone Dev-Team. They will perform testing and integrate it into their jailbreak utilities – redsn0w and pwnagetool. This untethered jailbreak will probably work for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G and iPad.

The iphone-dev-team is already beta-testing the untether. So it is up to them to give you your tool of choice.

Please don’t bother the dev-team now. The deal is: if the beta test is successfull, they are free to do whatever they want with it.

I0nic recently demonstrated his jailbreak on iPod Touch 4G. I hope to get iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak soon.

Hackers have released Sn0wBreeze 2.4 beta 1 utility, which is able to jailbreak the latest iOS 4.3.1. This jailbreak is tethered for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS new bootrom, iPad, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G. Tethered means that every reboot you will have to connect device to a computer and boot it using special utility (iBooty). Sn0wBreeze 2.4 beta 1 provides untethered jailbreak for iPhone 3GS old bootrom.

Sn0wbreeze also preserves your baseband, which is very useful for unlockers. Using Sn0wbreeze you can update firmware iOS 4.3.1, while preserve old unlockable baseband. It also works with iPhone 3GS with 06.15 baseband.

It is still beta, so there might be bugs so use at your own risk.

Comex, famous iPhone hacker, tweeted today that the kernel exploit for jailbreak he had found long ago was closed by Apple in recent iOS 4.3.1. This exploit could be used to jailbreak iPad 2.

As noticed by @0naj, my kernel exploit was fixed in 4.3.1.

I try not to be paranoid, but it is really hard to explain this as anything but a leak.

The funny thing is that my “new” kernel exploit is actually the kernel exploit used by JailbreakMe 2.0. It was never properly fixed.

It stayed there from 4.0.2 through 4.3, but was magically found in time for 4.3.1. well, go go @MuscleNerd and @i0n1c I guess

This is not good news. However we have recently seen working untethered jailbreak video. There are other vulnerabilities in iOS 4.3.1.

Here is a nice video for all jailbreakers. Hacker used sn0wbreeze to tether jailbreak iPod Touch 4G. Than he installed new untether exploit using SSH. Watch the result:

BGR have got their hands on the next iOS release – iOS 4.3.1. This new firmware will contain mostly minor bug fixes. Here are the changes from iOS 4.3:

• Baseband updates for the 3GS and iPad (original)
• Fixed memory hang that results in memory corruption when reading large files from USIM filesystem
• Fixed problem with NTLM authentication in apps and on websites
• Fixed issue with the Springboard and 3rd party apps not recognizing the gyroscope on the iPad 2
• Fixed iPad 2 jailbreak vulnerability

This is not the final changelog, but still quite interesting. No information on whether or not it will be available for Verizon iPhone 4.

The new iOS 4.3.1 firmware is expected to be released in 1-2 weeks.

We still have not seen good untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3. However hackers already confirm, that future iOS 4.3.1 is still vulnerable to jailbreak. Good news, but where is our jailbreak?
