A new tweak for iPhone 5s has been recently released in Cydia. It is called BioProtect and it allows you to use your fingerprint to protect certain apps from unauthorized access. For instance, you may set a fingerprint authentication for your Messages app – in such case, you won’t get access to the app unless Touch ID rescans your fingerprint.

As noted by iClarified,

BioProtect, a highly anticipated tweak developed by Elias Limneos (SBRotator, CallBar, Aquaboard, AudioRecorder), lets you protect your apps with Touch ID and is now available for download in Cydia. A short teaser was posted about a week ago shortly after the iOS 7 jailbreak was released.

If you think you need such a tweak, you can purchase it on the Cydia Store for $2.99.

As you probably know, a few days ago iH8sn0w, winocm and SquiffyPwn have released an untethered jailbreak for smartphones and tablets running iOS 6.1.3 – 6.1.5 – p0sixspwn. At first it was available only for Mac users, however, things have changed. Yes, you’ve got that right, p0sixspwn (version 1.0.4) for Windows is finally out.

At the same time, the new version of the jailbreak utility for Mac – 1.0.3 – is coming soon. If you have any problems with 1.0.2, it is recommended that you update to 1.0.3 since it is more stable.

Don’t forget to make a backup before jailbreaking your device and remember you hack your smartphone or tablet at your own risk.

One can download p0sixspwn for both Mac (version 1.0.2) and Windows (version 1.0.4) here.

As you probably know, not long ago evad3rs released their untethered jailbreak for iOS 7. Right after the release, many iPad 2 owners began to complain that their tablets won’t boot properly. Good news – the hackers came up with a fix for the problem; it is called Evasi0n 1.0.2 and it’s a beta that is said to be very helpful for all those who have problems with second-gen iPads (Wi-Fi models in particular).

evad3rs evasi0n 1.0.2 500x400 Evad3rs Release Evasi0n 1.0.2 with Fixes for iPad 2

Here’s what evad3rs claim:

News for the iPad 2 wifi on 7.0.4: we looked at it with @planetbeing. We know what is the issue now, we’re working on a clean fix.

1.0.2 (beta) is up on http://evasi0n.com. Fixes iPad 2 wifi boot loop.

As noted above, the fix is available on the evad3rs’ official website. It is still a beta-version, so it may happen it doesn’t work on all of the devices. Be patient and wait for the updates.

Evad3rs have recently released an updated version of their untether in Cydia that contains a bunch of improvements. The most important is probably a tweak that saurik requires to fix the problem with MobileSubstrate and make it fully functional.

evasion untether 500x365 Evad3rs Release Evasi0n 7.x Untether 0.2

As noted by Evad3rs (via iClarified),

Version 0.2 of this package is what came with evasi0n7 1.0.1; it removes the TaiG splash screen and adds some features that saurik will be relying on in future updates to other packages. Users who jailbreak with evasi0n7 1.0.1 already have version 0.2 of this package installed.

One can install the new untether via the Changes tab in Cydia.

Saurik has warned the iOS 7 users and jailbreakers not to install the unofficial MobileSubstrate patches that begin to appear on the Internet. The reason for such warning is quite simple – MobileSubstrate hasn’t yet been updated to work with Apple’s new operating system and that can lead to serious consequences.

beware substrate 447x400 Beware of Unofficial MobileSubstrate Patches!

Here’s what saurik says himself (via iClarified):

This is horribly dangerous: MSHookFunction is not designed to be used on functions that might actively be running; this makes Substrate get injected into launchd while launchd is loading launch daemons… no one should install this; it doesn’t even solve the problem remotely correctly for anything but SpringBoard/backboardd, and will end up leaving you with Substrate having been randomly applied to different background processes.

What saurik suggests us to wait for the official update. Well, I guess it’s better to listen to the experienced programmer.

evasion7 101 500x400 Evad3rs released Evasi0n iOS 7 version 1.0.1

The evad3rs team released evasi0n7 1.0.1 with the removal of TaiG App Store from the installer. No word on any other changes in the 1.0.1 version of evasi0n7. You can download the new version here.

Pod2g announced the news on twitter:

We have heard the community. Evasi0n 1.0.1 is available on http://evasi0n.com. TaiG has been removed from the package. Merry Christmas!

iPad 2 issue has not been fixed yet. For those that keep getting stuck on boot logo with iPad 2 models, the team promises that a fix is coming.

We still have to work on the compatibility issue with the iPad 2, but we have been busy celebrating with our family… Tomorrow probably!

A Chinese company reportedly paid evad3rs $1 million to install its third-party mobile application – Taig store. This app replaced Cydia on devices with default language set to Chinese. As to the hackers, they confirmed that they had received a kind of compensation from Taig. Take a look at the open letter posted on evad3rs’ official website:

Yes, we have benefitted financially from our work, just as many others in the jailbreak community have, including tweak developers, repo owners, etc. Any jailbreak from us will always be free to the users but we believe we have a right to be compensated in an ethical way, just as any other developer.

Well, I don’t think it’s strange that the creators of untethered jailbreak for iOS 7 accepted such an advantageous offer. They need money to continue their work on jailbreak. If they had no money, we wouldn’t have jailbroken iPhones, iPads and iPods. It’s simple.

iH8sn0w and winocm have posted a new video teasing an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3, 6.1.4, and 6.1.5. The video demonstrates the untethered jailbreak on a n78ap (iPod touch 5) running iOS 6.1.3.

p0sixspwn 225x400 Untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch 4G with iOS 6.1.3 6.1.5

H8sn0w has announced the release of an untether package for the old devices running iOS 6.1.3 – 6.1.5. This includes iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch 4G.

With the unexpected release of the evasi0n7 jailbreak, we are finally able to release the 3GS/A4 6.1.3 + 6.1.5 untether Cydia package.

To get the package you must have already performed a tethered jailbreak via redsn0w or sn0wbreeze. Simply open Cydia, refresh the packages from the Changes tab, and then search for “p0sixspwn”.

Sn0wbreeze will be updated at some point to incorporate the untether directly. The next priority is a jailbreak for all devices on iOS 6.1.3 and iOS 6.1.4, including A5 devices (iPad 2/3/4, iPhone 4S/5, etc).

H8sn0w says no eta, however:

We expect it should be out by Christmas day. So if you don’t feel like upgrading to iOS 7 and prefer 6.1.3/6.1.4, sit tight for a bit. :)
