Famous hacker MuscleNerd has confirmed that iOS 7.0.4 is safe to update to for users who wait iOS 7 jailbreak and are already on iOS 7.

Those at 7.x waiting for JB, maybe treat 7.0.4 as exercise in restraint. Won’t affect JB if you slip up, but test your ability to avoid it!

…but for those enjoying the 6.x JB, avoid 7.0.4 . There’s no going back (always worth saying that for sake of JB newbies)

The last update we received about the possibility of iOS 7 jailbreak was in early October when Planetbeing tweeted, “We’re still working hard on the jailbreak. May have all the pieces at this point (but not certain yet).”

ios7 jailbreak first step Evad3rs Achieve Unsigned Userland Code Execution on iOS 7

Famous hacker Planetbeing, member of Evad3rs team, posted an update regarding team’s iOS 7 jailbreak progress. They’ve achieved one important step – unsigned userland code execution. Basically this means that they’ve got behind Apple’s walls of security and now can poke at the kernel. Bugs found in the kernel could be used to create a jailbreak for the new operating system.

Achieved unsigned userland code execution with some of our stuff in reserve. Now we have a good platform for poking the kernel.

If you use a jailbroken iPhone 5, then this article will be interesting for you. Yesterday, a hacker with a nickname winocm announced that he had successfully jailbroken iOS 6.1.4 on his iPhone 5. And this is crucial since this is the first time this firmware version was hacked.

As you can see on the image above, the new jailbreak was tested on both GSM and CDMA models of the iPhone 5. It is also said to be compatible with the iPhone 4S, however, I have no idea whether this jailbreak will work with the iPhone 4.

According to Cody Lee of iDownloadBlog:

Winocm has been very busy lately, announcing and demonstrating his jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3—which we went hands on with last week—and now this. His progress is good news for folks who lost their jailbreak upgrading past iOS 6.1.2

Well, that’s all I wanted to say.

A hacker named winocm claims he has a binary that can perform an untethered jailbreak of the iOS 6.1.3. This announcement has been spotted on Twitter today.

jailbreak 463x400 Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 Found

I now have a binary that untethers 6.1.3. Needs some more work though.

A tethered jailbreak is now available for the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4G running iOS 6.1.3. winocm says, he has tested the code only on his own iPhone 4. What is interesting, though, is that the hacker doesn’t work on the jailbreak for iOS 7.

I have my own code running inside the iOS 6.1.3 kernel on iPhone 4. It’s not useful on iOS 7. I don’t care about iOS 7. Other people are taking care of iOS 7.

If you have an iPhone and look forward to news from winocm concerning the new jailbreak, you may follow this person on Twitter.

iOS 7 has been jailbroken. Popular iOS developer Ryan Petrich has posted a screenshot which appears to show Activator running on iOS 7.

Earlier today Petrich tweeted saying, “System version too new?”. Alongside the tweet was the picture below. The picture shows the Springboard of an iPod touch with an Activator icon and a UIAlert window which reads:

System Version Too New
Activator has not been tested to work with this version of iOS. Some features may not work as designed.

Notably, this alert does not seem to be a UIAlert that could be generated from within a sandboxed application, suggesting that device may be jailbroken.

It’s unclear what expoit was used by Petrich. Last year Apple had closed comex’s developer account based exploit that had been used by hackers to root their iDevices for two years.

Hacker p0sixninja recently announced that he has “got a lot of amazing things coming to you all soon. think bigger than jailbreak ;) ” It’s been suggested that he may have found a bootrom exploit.

pod2g Hacker Pod2g Says He is About to Switch to an Android Device

Pod2g, the hacker who has been an integral part of the last few jailbreaks, has announced that he is ‘about to switch to an Android device’ after spending some time testing iOS 7.

After a few days of iOS 7 beta 1 testing, I must admit that I am about to switch to an Android device.

IMHO, this version of iOS is the worst move Apple did in a long time.

iOS 7 design is awful, it’s slow, battery life time is the worst ever, it’s full of UI bugs and crashes. OK it’s beta 1, but still…

I am pretty disappointed by the features I’ve seen in iOS 7. No revolution here. No big news. Just kid painting.

This would be a terrible blow to the jailbreak community. Hopefully, he sticks around a bit longer and Apple addresses user concerns in its upcoming betas.

ios613 jailbreak 500x234 P0sixninja Finds Exploits Needed for New iOS 6.1.3 Untethered Jailbreak

P0sixninja says that he has found the exploits necessary to release a new jailbreak. He does not mention it, but it looks like this jailbreak will be for the latest iOS 6.1.3. In the past the hacker contributed to various jailbreak releases in the past including: GreenPois0n, Cdev Reporter, Absinthe, etc.

Well, so far it looks like the next jailbreak might be created entirely by me.

Evad3rs haven’t gone anywhere, I’ve just discovered all the needed exploits on my own over the past few months

As of yet, p0sixninja has not demonstrated a working jailbreak; however, it’s promising that exploits are still being found. It’s unclear if p0sixninja intends to pursue a jailbreak release for iOS 6.x or hold back the exploits in hope of jailbreaking iOS 7.
