Hacker iH8Sn0w released Sn0wBeeze 2.8 beta 2 with ability to perform untethered jailbreak of the old bootrom iPhone 3GS on iOS 5.0b1. For other devices the jailbreak is still tethered.

Sn0wBreeze is a Windows application that creates a custom ipsw with jailbreak. It also preserves your baseband if you need unlock, but UltraSn0w has not yet been updated to work with iOS 5.

You can download Sn0wBeeze 2.8 beta 2 here.

comexreply Comex Found Out How To Improve Jailbreak Time

Today Comex revealed in his Twitter that he found a way to drastically decrease the time it takes to jailbreak and learned how to utilize unionfs and thus get rid of the Cydia’s ‘Reorganizing FileSystem’ process.

New approach will reportedly be used in his next jailbreak for iPad 2.

If you want to know more details on Comex’s new approach, check his long tweet.

Earlier Musclenerd stated that it won’t be necessary to move Apple apps anywhere if unionfs will be used. That also means that apps will keep their entitlements and thus simplify the sandboxing problem.

The iPhone Dev team has just released PwnageTool 4.3.2 which adds support for iOS 4.3.2. The jailbreak uses i0n1c’s untether, which Apple did not fix in 4.3.2. Ultrasn0w has also been updated to 1.2.2 adding support for the new firmware.

You can download PwnageTool 4.3.2 here. Ultrasn0w 1.2.2 is available in Cydia.

Update #3: PwnageTool 4.3.2 now includes the iOS 4.3.2 untether from @i0n1c. (And look, the PwnageTool and iOS version numbers actually match!).

Note that there’s a corresponding update to ultrasn0w, which has been bumped up to v1.2.2 to get along with iOS 4.3.2 (the ultrasn0w update does not include any new baseband support!). Please reboot your iPhone using the normal “slide to power off” swipe after installing ultrasn0w 1.2.2.

pwned Untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.2 will be available soon

I0n1c has confirmed that his untethered jailbreak exploit is still working for iOS 4.3.2. This is good news for all jailbreakers.

Here are his recent tweets:

Apple has been nice. I just verified that the untether vulnerability is not fixed in iOS 4.3.2 – my Ipad 1 is running untethered jailbroken

Of course the public untether binaries will not work with iOS 4.3.2 – I have to generate new untether binaries with new dyld/kernel offsets

I won’t be able to create all the untether binaries before sunday, because I will be on planes, …

The dev-team cannot produce the untether binaries on their own, because they don’t have the source code to the untether exploit.

Well from what I hear lots of the problems people had with 4.3.1 (like wifi, 3g, …) are gone in 4.3.2

The new version of iOS 4.3.2 jailbreak tools RedSn0w and PwnageTool will be released by the iPhone Dev-Team quite soon.

iphone 4 jailbreak 300x200 Jailbreaking iPhones Made This Student $50,000

It seems that jailbreaking of iOS devices become a really profitable business, at least for Kevin Lee, a George Mason University senior, who managed to earn $50,000 a year by jailbreaking and unlocking iPhones. At first, it was a hobby for him that eventually grew into a real business with 30-40 clients per week asking for jailbreak, Cydia installations, graphical customizations and “unlocks” to use the iPhone on wireless carriers otherwise unsupported by Apple.  To achieve success, Kevin posted posting a “Get Your iPhone Jailbroken Today” ad on the popular online community. That helped him to get hundreds of requests. But his business goes against Apple’s rules and as far as we know, at that moment his ad was already removed from the site.
