DevTeam released PwnageTool 4.2 utility. It is able to create a custom IPSW that can perform an untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.2.1. As usual it can preserve baseband version for unlockers. Devteam used the same method that was implemented in greenpois0n.
PwnageTool supports all 4.2.1 devices other than iPod touch 2G:
Jailbreak is even improved compared to GreenPois0n RC6:
PwnageTool also includes two very recent improvements to the 4.2.1 JB: iBooks was just fixed by @comex and @pushfix last night so that it works as intended on DRMed books, and the wifi problem on AppleTV 2G was fixed by @nitotv, @DHowett, and @saurik. Both of these fixes will also be available in upcoming Cydia package updates, so if you’re already jailbroken you can wait for those updates rather than restore and jailbreak again.
You can download the new PwnageTool from here. We will post tutorial for PwnageTool 4.2 soon.
Developer Steve Troughton-Smith has tweeted that customers of Three in Ireland and the UK and China Unicom in China woke up today and found that that Cydia on their devices was blocked by the carrier. So, now the jailbroken devices don’t have access to certain content from Cydia when on the Three and China Unicom networks. Though, only main page is unavailable. Moreover, Cydia is blocked over 3G networks that means that the popular store still available via Wi-Fi.
Famous iPhone hacker Geohot can rap! Sony sued him, because he created a jailbreak for Sony Playstation. We don’t know if this video is made by Geohot, but it’s worth seeing. Take a look:
Here are the lyrics:
Yo it’s geohot
And for those who don’t know
I’m getting sued by Sony
Let’s take this out of the courtroom and into the streets
I’m a beast, at the least, you’ll face me in the northeast
Get my ire up, light my fire
I’ll go harder then Eminem went at Mariah
Call me a liar
Pound me in the ass with no lube, chafing
You’re fucking with the dude who got the keys to your safe and
Those that can’t do bring suits
Cry to your Uncle Sam to settle disputes
Thought you’d tackle this with a little more tact
But then again fudgepackers, I don’t know Jack
I shed a tear everytime I think of Lik Sang
But shit man, they’re a corporation
And I’m a personification of freedom for all
You fill dockets, like thats a concept foreign to y’all
While lawyers muddy water and TROs stall
Out of business is jail for me
And you’re suing me civilly
Exhibit this in the courtroom
Go on, do it, I dare you

The Chronic Dev-Team has announced via twitter an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1. This should work for iPhone 3GS (new bootrom), iPhone 4 and iPad. And it will not require saved iOS 4.2b3 SHSH keys.
The untether is demoed in the video below. It’s a result of a collaboration between @0naj, @p0sixninja, and @pod2g. P0sixninja has previously said it will not require iOS 4.2b3 SHSH blobs.
A small bug with wifi still remains. They will release utility as soon as they fix it.
